As part of my job, I recently had the pleasure of working at the top (52nd) floor of 7 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. I spent most of the night marvelling at the top of the wonderful Woolworth Building, and taking in some of the other rather nice views.

One day I will get a tripod for my camera and I will be able to take decent night shots. In order to get these to be clean, I had to place the camera on the floor in front of the full length windows which form all four walls of the space, thus sacrificing any control I might have had in framing the content of my picture. shame about the glare too. nevertheless, I'm happy with what I got.

i particularly like the shots because i worked in downtown for over 30 years and i have been in and out of many of those buildings. the first pic is great and you can see the bridges, if you can shoot a pic of cedar street, especially 130 cedar street or the corner of cedar and washington i would love to see it from your view point. little ukraine i have to admit your choice of name is intriquing as is upfromflames.

by the way for the people who don't know, that's the brooklyn bridge at bottom right, then you see the ends of the manhattan bridge behind the lights of the woolworth building, (which was the tallest building at one time), and to the upper left is the scary williamsburg bridge and it's scary because the outer roadway seems to be slanting or dropping to the waters below. i want to take a pic of that to prove my point.

Bright lights. Big city.
The traffic looks like lava flow.

guest: Hey L.U., what camera do you use?

little ukraine: 15th Mar 2007 - 17:10 GMT

these were from a canon powershot s200, a five year old digital camera. it took me about four and a half years to understand all the settings and options. i also have a pretty basic 35mm which i haven't used in months but i'll be busting it out soon.

iman: nice shots man! the city is beautiful at night.
