Beautiful.

really cool. i've often wondered what graffiti is like for people who are used to chinese characters rather than an alphabet. it must be a whole different mindset.

chinese or japanese calligraphy reminds me a lot of graffiti. changing symbols to evoke a certain feeling or aesthetic, but changing them only so much that people can still read them (hopefully).

Peter: 22nd Apr 2005 - 14:15 GMT

some of hte japanese writers have siiiiick handstyles. they usually write in english though. hmm...

jeeff: 22nd Apr 2005 - 14:48 GMT

yeah. english is "cool" in japan so young people prefer to work with it. surprisingly tho there isn't much graffiti in most parts of tokyo. it was just beginning to spread to the eastern, older neighbourhoods while i lived there. before that, it was pretty much confined to the youth/hip neighbourhoods like shibuya. i think much of it is still just copy-catting western styles and motivations right now. but it's evolving.

i wonder what it's like in china.
