Mapping Ghosts: If Your House Burned Down in Bushwick...
[previous] :: [next]
Let me know... One of the potential maps for the Up From Flames exhibition is to detail what was lost and what replaced it. Along the way, maybe we can pry farther into the sene of insecurity and terror which ruled the nights during the firestorm in Bushwick. So leave your address, and if you like, your story. For my part, I'll pay (from my grant) to have a small number brought back to life through old tax roll photos like this one above (just a demo from Carlton Ave., by the way) The map may not be ready for the show, but I'll try my best. The quicker I get responses, the quicker the map can happen. If you'd like to know more about those photos, you can read more at www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/taxphotos/home.shtml Or you can just find me at upfromflames@gmail.com Up From Flames: @ the Brooklyn Historical Society This article has been viewed 2380 times in the last 43 months dimeadozen: 28th Feb 2007 - 19:48 GMTI live, like many others in an old factory. Dose this apply to me? I would love to know what was made here once upon a time. They still make sweaters next door. upfromflames: 28th Feb 2007 - 20:06 GMTsure it does. just give me the address, and I'll get the 1929 map to locate what was there....probably a factory!
