judging by the elongated shadow, and toronto being at 32 degrees on the latitude at 4 minutes longitude, the bicycle post must be three feet high and it is precisely 10:32 am, by jove, i think i've got it, or the post could be anywhere around the southern part of toronto. there.

joey: picture 3 is really nice. poetic.

Initially, i thought: what an interesting perspective of a circle/ring bicycle post. Why haven't I seen that before? Guess not tall enough.

But then I realized that the ring is separated from the post.

Recently snapped by a 2x4, I suppose. I guess the word is getting around.

Or not, since there is no sigh of a lock or orphaned bike parts.

Maybe it just snapped in the cold we've been having.

Have been wondering about what the City is doing about this problem.
I noticed what appears to be one approach beside Amato Pizza on College at, I believe, Robert Street. These newly instllled posts have two rings installed back-to-back on the post. Not sure if the (longer) bolts used to fasten it all together are stronger or not.
Kind of a creative, off the shelf solution. Surprised me. I guess the only drawback is that this will have the effect of shortening the length of ones U-lock. Could just move to the longer U-lock, but these are more easily TWISTED off. Ohh, solutions - every solutioin seem to sometimes lead to one (or more) new problems. It will be interesting to see how well this option works. Has anyone used this new option yet?

Also, I didn't have a camera to snap a picture, but I think I like the way that these posts are installed on an angle, creating an eye-pleasing alternative to the usual parallel-to the curb option.

City Street Art

is famous for it especially , but look closer and there are some cruder pieces written in simple black marker that just ooze the feelings of those who wrote them.
