There Are Many Bridges in Cleveland

- little ukraine - Sunday, November 26th, 2006 : goo

[previous] :: [next]

There are many bridges in Cleveland, but unfortunately there are only five in this post. More can be found here (easy top-five all-time CN post for me) and here. There is also a view of the park from which my photos were shot in this post. Its the grassy area covered by Our Lady. Just to Her left you can see the jackknife and lift bridges featured here.

Key Tower to the left, and Terminal Tower centered by this lift bridge.

i'm the first to admit that cleveland has suffered more than its share of city planning blunders; however, i feel the need to raise up the city's commitment to preserving our bridges in the way we have.

a number of the city's remaining bridges are no longer in use, but remain in place as a reminder of our city's heritage. one of these is the jack knife bridge sticking up from the bottom left of the penultimate picture.

explorer: nice trusswork, indeed.

Thanks for not mentioning the classic post, "bridges of Cuyahoga County" easily my all time top 7 of CN posts. It contains waaay more bridges in one shot than you got in here. I'm angry.

oh man, these pictures are great. so much love for the cleveland bridges. did you see them lit up in various blues and magentas at night while you were in town?

haha, B&T, you are totally right - I thought of that after I had made the post and have been meaning to link to it. It's only proper. So here it is.
Thanks Procyon. I did get to see them lit up at night, very beautiful indeed. The first pic in this post by Firecracker captures some nice colors.
