A Night-time Jaunt

- firecraker - Sunday, November 26th, 2006 : goo

After eating too much dinner on Thursday, my brother and I went to the flats to take some night-time fotos, a medium which is a new-found interest of his. It was my first time with a tripod and after the 35mm stopped working for me, I put my cheap-ish digital camera on it and tried my hand. Here are some of the best results.

here the city looks on fire

the day was perfectly clear, but the evening and night became overcast so there was a lot of light reflecting off the clouds.

very nice - the colors in that first one are great. the reflections in #3 are also beautiful. I love night shots. I don't have a tripod, but every once in a while I am able to find a flat surface on which to rest my camera while still getting a good picture, and it is very exciting.

Funny how this art has grabbed me too. I went caving yesterday and got some fine shots which I will post soon.

the pic's are strangely quiet, alone yet there is a presence of something going on. almost a cold, dark beginning of a bond movie, i liked them, it reminded me of brooklyn's waterfront in the dead of winter.

yeah, the fotos are pretty lonely, especially because of the evidence of people without individuals shown. we tried to stop at another place, but as soon as one person stepped out of the car, a voice on a loudspeaker boomed around us telling us to leave, though we had no idea where the person who was watching us was.

does anyone else see the reflected eye or lens shape to the left of the lamp in the 4th one? i just noticed it and it is kind of creeping me out. also, i dont know how to change the location now that the post is done and i promise not to do it again.

1. wow, that loudspeaker story is creepy.
2. I love that you captured the intense blue of Veterans Memorial Bridge at night. Whoever thought of lighting it up that way had a great idea there.
3. I'm pretty sure nobody but the site's editors can change locations (or anything else about the post) once it's up.
