Art on the Streets of Manhattan
[previous] :: [next]
so, my question is this, if you were a dog, where would you go? i think i would pee on the art.
do you know any of these people on the wall? i recognize ringo only because he is married to my wife's classmate, barbara from dominican commercial high school in jamaica queens. and yes, i do know most of these people, but i don't give a hoot for any of them. i mean, what did they ever do for me and you? so why should i be thrilled to see their faces on a wall. This article has been viewed 3612 times in the last 53 months colavitos ghost: 1st Nov 2006 - 19:24 GMTthey made great art (most of em, at least). that's what they did. if you don't like it, don't look at it. jack: 1st Nov 2006 - 20:04 GMThold on there pardner, your talking to a long time follower of jefferson airplane, led zeppelin and my girl janis, yes, old man jack was a hippie, and he liked his rock 'n' roll. ghost of grandin: 1st Nov 2006 - 20:20 GMTyeah, i recognize ringo but who are those other three guys around him? little ukraine: 1st Nov 2006 - 23:53 GMTI don't get it... Janis Joplin is in that mural. Above Ringo. So are Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis... I'd imagine these artists would have done a lot for an ex-hippie/ rock n' roller. jack: 2nd Nov 2006 - 02:08 GMTactually they did, they gave me great music to listen to and we in turn gave them great money to pay for their drugs and for some, for their deaths. little ukraine: 2nd Nov 2006 - 15:29 GMTok.. it is clear that we are going to have make a collective effort to name every artist up there. let's go for it. first off, who is that fellow with the hat and the grey curly hair beneath jerry garcia? i see chuck berry just makes it into the picture in the top left. how about the women in the bottom left row? i think the second one from the right is loretta lynn..and that's got to be the big bopper on the telephone. ok someone else go.
little ukraine: 2nd Nov 2006 - 22:10 GMTSo 18-20 are definitely Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. 17 is Bill Haley. Which are Bette Midler and Don Ho? #4 has got to be Fats Domino. I'm gonna guess Johnny Cash for #10 and Roy Orbison for #11. #2 I'll say Little Richard. Roger Daltrey for #32.
Susan: 14th Nov 2006 - 20:33 GMTI went to Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, Queens during the height of Beatlemania, but who is Barbara? Ringo's wife? She went to D.C.? When? jack: 15th Nov 2006 - 14:39 GMTsusan, my wife graduated dominican commercial high in 1964. barbara goldbach, now barbara bach was in her class. she is on page 130 of the 1964 year book. Susan: 14th Dec 2006 - 20:22 GMTThanks, I will look Barbara Bach up. Is your wife interested in re-connecting with some D.C.-ites? Yes, that's what we were called back then. She can connect with a group on the Yahoo groups called dominicancommercialhighschool (all lower case) at yahoogroups.com We are in the middle of planning a gathering on 9/23/07 and she can get info from that group is she is interested. We hope soon to have a website up and running regarding alumni events....the school closed as a high school several years ago and we are hoping to revive the alumni association. Best wishes during the holiday season! Princess: 27th Dec 2006 - 10:44 GMTsome times arts only purpose is to make us remember. all artists have a raw pain and madness inside them. that's what drives them to greatness in the first place. Maureen : 25th Jul 2007 - 13:04 GMTI graduated from DC in 1963. Barbara Bach (Ringo's) wife was a year behind me. While I was there she was voted Miss Candy Cane - she is truly a natural beauty. I could never figure out if she was quiet or conceited. I know she grew up on Long Island and her dad was a cop. Frances: 30th Sep 2007 - 00:49 GMTI graduated the same year as Barbara, 1964. Her real name was Barbara Goldbach back then. Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
