i often ate here at the westway when i worked as a concierge at the milford plaza, the waldorf and the plaza. there was nothing better than working in the city and strolling thru rockefeller center at this time of year. the city becomes a wonderland of excitement. stores get ready for the holidays, people become friendlier, taverns become exciting and the crouds of tourists and families visiting our city make the days pass all too quickly. autumn in new york, why does it seem so exciting?

ever wonder where all the elks go when they visit our city? well here it is, the elk hotel. i think this joint has a great history to it and then again it could just be another dive, i dunno. i think the next time im in the city ill stop in and get some history on it for you guys.

the westway diner is on 9th avenue, and i used to live right across the street, a block up. to the right of the diner, you can see the victoria supermarket (now closed, though the sinage remains) which was a great, tinly little independent grocery... that was also really cheap, which was good, because living in that part of town meant i was always broke. heh. thanks for posting these, jack.

Distillery Historic District

I went to the Distillery History Distict www.thedistillerydistrict.com/htmlsite/ for the fist time last summer. I really liked it. So, last Sunday, I decided to go out there again. Because of the season, there is not much happening, but the galleries...
