Autumn Began

since autumn began

I'll run out this morn'
as swift as I can,
with my new sweater on
now that autumn began.

Red leaves and fuzzy balls
from the sycamore tree,
are covering the sidewalk
just waiting for me.

Running and jumping
in pile after pile,
back again and across a trail
designed in my own style.

and dear old dad with threatening hand,
not as happy as I since autumn began.

i hope you like my little poem i wrote when most of you were not even born. the leaves, in piles in the streets of brooklyn, grandfather burning the leaves. the aroma, the sence of winter coming, the holidays. life was simple for all of us when we were children.
