great entry! you really convey the strong sense of place in these photos. i've seen venice beach portrayed in movies and video games, but never before has it been "real" to me.

colavitos ghost: 23rd Sep 2006 - 23:09 GMT

wow, venice beach looks pretty amazing! i would expect it to be kind of cheesy, but this shit looks real. seems like the authorities don't care about people tagging up the beach....is there some kind of unspoken agreement about that?

adam: 24th Sep 2006 - 02:42 GMT

thanks! i don't really know how/why things work over there but its definitely different than most other beach areas in la..

venice homeboy: 24th Sep 2006 - 04:58 GMT

those are tagging walls the cops dont give a shit what happens there. Taggers will sometimes take your cans if your not from around here

joey: where are all the people? what about the canals?

Biff: 24th Sep 2006 - 12:50 GMT

Wow! Your seagulls are really fat dude...I miss the ocean.

adam: 24th Sep 2006 - 18:42 GMT

joey: no canals in this venice :)

biff: you should've seen the 5 seagulls that were staring me down while I was eating pizza.. they looked pretty homicidal, not to much mention fat

ilene Richardson: really great photos!

Sandy S: 29th Sep 2006 - 18:30 GMT

Your photos really convey Venice as I remember it.

Nate the Knife: 11th Apr 2007 - 10:25 GMT

Greatest place on the planet, my utopia. I was just wishing I was there the other day...a mental vacation from the Afghan mountains.

iman: 11th Apr 2007 - 19:13 GMT

man, it looks rich, so why is there so much tagging all over the place?

nedflanders: 7th Jun 2007 - 19:55 GMT

there are too canals in venice cali, aren't there?

adam: 14th Jun 2007 - 18:40 GMT

venice was pretty sketchy up until a few years ago. its still not totally cleaned up tho

Matt: 17th Aug 2007 - 23:47 GMT

There are canals in Venice (CALI) , but it is a residential area a little walking ways from the "boardwalk" (the area you see in the pictures).

tiara lingua: 18th Aug 2007 - 14:43 GMT

Your photos are dark and ominous. There is so much life and movement when you normally go there. Sunshine. Performers galore, freaks, opportunists, and gawkers. Blondes scantily clad on rollerblades. So much noise and motion surrounding you. Not to mention the muscle types working out.
Interesting perspective.
