Oh yeah? Try the Cote-de-Liesse Expressway. I was stuck in it for an hour and 35 minutes this afternoon.

I hate Cote-de-Liesse too! Not for as many reasons as Decarie but it's close.

EvilGentleman: 15th Sep 2006 - 02:33 GMT

LOL, fair enough, since you encounter Decarie daily and I encounter Cote-de-Liesse daily. In all honesty, I usually hate the Decarie Expressway more, but today was special. At one point, I moved 3 metres in 15 minutes. Damn, it was bad today.

As you have noticed when we do the odd tour of the area, I tend to prefer the actual Decarie Boulevard to the expressway, since I find the city street is much faster than the highway.

Even more than Decarie, I hate autoroutes 13 and 40. It seems any intersection involving either of those highways is guaranteed to be a trouble spot.

The two worst interchanges in the city:
1 - Where Autoroute 20, Autoroute 13, and 32nd Avenue meet in Lachine
2 - Where Cote-de-Liesse (520), the Decarie Expressway (15), and Metropolitain Boulevard (40), Marcel-Laurin Boulevard and Decarie Boulevard meet in Saint-Laurent borough.

Sirhcbre: 15th Sep 2006 - 02:54 GMT

I'm lucky to live on the only remaining section of Decarie. I often wonder what the southern parts of the boulevard looked like before the highway ripped through it.

Marcel-Laurin scares the shit out of me. I used to avoid it (when biking) at all times.

how about the long island expressway,,, why do they call it an expressway when you can only go at 10 miles per hour.

jamie: nice. very arty. i like it.

EvilGentleman: 15th Sep 2006 - 17:12 GMT

That pic I took, I actually got out of the car, had a cigarette, took a picture, read a little bit, then hopped back into the car. Nobody had moved yet.

jack - maybe it should be called a parkway? No, I think a parkway is where I put my car at night. We drive on the roads, let's call them driveways.

Actually, why do these highways have all these different names? Route, highway, freeway, parkway, autoroute, turnpike, thruway, carriageway, coachway, motorway, skyway, thoroughfare, pike, way, trail... the list goes on and on and on.

EvilGentleman: 15th Sep 2006 - 17:13 GMT

We park in driveways and drive on parkways - I'm getting dizzy now...

I was actually thinking of this picture today and saw there had been a comment left. The more I learn about what Decarie used to be lie and what it could have been for the west side the more I fucking hate it.

I've also developed a strong hatred for the [Ville-Marie] thanks to how much it has fucked up Downtown's connection to the south ends of the city ( in particular)
