jack: great pic's you captured history.

The fact that someone would have the gall to name something in this area after the Algonquins, who are the traditional enemy of the Mohawks, is quite distressing. The Adironadacks are the homeland of the Mohawk people, so to do this is equivalent to a Japanese businessman opening a business called the Deutschland Cafe on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, or perhaps opening the Israel Theater in Beirut. We get along with the Algonquins today, much the same as Israel and Germany do, but still, a little cultural sensitivity would have been nice. But I doubt the owners have any clue as to what the difference between a Mohawk and an Algonquin is, so I suppose I should not be too surprised.

EvilGentleman: Nice shots, by the way.

yes, EG--alas, cultural sensitivity clearly didn't come into the equation at all! as you say, disappointing, but no surprise there!
