Not to dispute that Bazine may be a boring town, but just for the sake of accuracy, the high school building is not used anymore since district consolidation some years back.

Also, the empty field you noted was empty probably because it's the Junior High's field next door, and school is not in session in the summertime.

Thirdly, the "road" you show in your last pic is actually the High School parking lot. On the left of your photo is a row of stone fence posts which mark the beginning of a little wildlife sanctuary. To the right is the high school building shown in your first pic.

Not to mention - people just want to stay out of the heat. When I used to have to go to farming communities on business trips I alway thought it was strange that the local diner's hours were 5:00am to 2:00pm, in the farming areas they keep different hours than we do, just like in Europe and South America everything closes in the middle of the day for "siesta". I remember traveling through France if you hit the wrong town on the wrong day everything was closed and there was no one anywhere.

when i was a kid i complained to a friend's father about being bored. he sternly told me, "only boring people are bored." I was embarrassed; his comment changed my life and my attitude toward "boredom" was never the same. (no personal offense meant to scott, just a story that came to mind when i viewed these shots, which have their own non-boring beauty.)

GGP: If he's trying to point out beauty- he should say so. It seems to me he's just trying to portray the obvious. I'd like to put the challenge to him to take something boring and make it interesting. But he won't take it. He carries his bicycle wheel (see shadow) with him in a town that probably hasn't had a crime in 50 years.

My family grew up there. I wouldn't have changed a damn thing. It was a small town but we knew everyone. We all still keep in contact with our high school and some our junior high friends. I went to school with almost all the same people from pre-school to my senior year. I couldn't have picked a better place to grow up!

your nuts I have been there a few times and love it. I'm from Canada. Also if you knew the town and the pepole you would know how wrong you are. It's a great little town.

I moved here from a suburb of a very large city. I love the peace, quiet and the people. The photos, while very well done, don't portray the heart of the town and the people here. It's easy to pass through an area and judge it based on intial appearances but spend some time in them and get to know (as Paul Harvey says) "the rest of the story". Personally, I'd rather have interesting and good hearted people around me than a mall, amusement park, sirens and traffic jams.

Scott, urgent, contact me. I am stuck in Hutchinson, I am from Florida and I believe my life is in danger. I keep reaching out for help but its slow coming. I am disabled, use a wheelchair/scooter to go out and a service dog. I can't get a good wheel chair ramp. my landlord won't supply screens or an exit from the back of my house. I have been attacked by the police over my dog that my adopted (almost, I canceled the adoption just in time)daughter told the police was hers, the dog now sits in Animal control due to the police interference in COMING IN MY HOME AND TAKING HER OUT, ILLEGAL interference. i CALLED THE NEWSPAPER AND THEY WOULDN'T RUN THE STORY. I hired an attorney who also wouldn't take the case (two separate cases against the police here.) I worked in law enforcement in Fl and the police here told me they must be stupid down there. Please help me. Please.. I need out of here. my email is inyourwildestdreams_84@yahoo.com and can you please delete this? Everyone knows everyone in this town. I don't want any one to know I am reaching out for help except those I have contacted for now.
