Sunday in Town

Beetham Tower, Manchester. One of the latest parts of the regeneration of the city centre.

Taken from Castlefield, an area of canals and warehouses converted into bars, homes and businesses - one of the first areas of 'town' to get smartened up.

Do you know if the new Beetham tower is built on top of the Great Bridgewater Street Wesleyan Chapel? or if not, where that might have been? I love all these sites on Manchester. Does anybody know if there was a tobacco factory in the city in the 1890s?

I'm not sure if it is on the site of a chapel, it is on the junction of Deansgate and Gt Bridgewater St though.

I'll try and find out if there was a tobacco factory- there may have been one on Trafford Park.
