Effective Communication

Internet, phones, letters--- really, a much more effective way to communicate is with a sign, some shoes, poles of some sort, minute rice, and kerosene lamp chimneys, and other assorted bric-a-brac.

I wonder if James got Craig's message.

Chris Erb: Haha, nice find. Where abouts was this?

Chris Erb: 3rd Aug 2006 - 04:05 GMT

I especially like how the word "my" is underlined. A message is definitely being sent.

Marlo: 3rd Aug 2006 - 04:06 GMT

Yes, emphatic, wasn't he?
I took this last night on York near Charlotte.

EvilGentleman: 3rd Aug 2006 - 04:51 GMT

I'm guessing either a couple of college pals are no longer roommates, or a same-sex relationship is on the rocks.

aer suzuki: there's no way james can ignore this...

jack: 3rd Aug 2006 - 12:32 GMT

he should have placed the green candle holder in the center.

I used to live at the end of a hall in a big apartment building on the upper west side of Manhattan. Our position afforded us a great view of the whole corridor. Toward the end of our stay there, a very pretty, intense woman moved into one of the apartments. She had an ardent admirer. This guy would leave her offerings outside her door, much like in this picture. It was always a bit surreal heading out to work in the morning and looking at the love altar outside her door. He would leave a mini vase with a single flower, chocolates, a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. At least I hoped it was wine. It could have been blood.

I once received a letter from a guy I had briefly dated that was written in blood - then 10 years later when I was engaged I accidentally sat next to him on a Subway train. It had to be the most awkward horrible twenty minutes of my life.

Here's an update taken on Friday while walking to the bus depot to get to .

The shoes and candle holders have disappeared and the rice has been spilled. Something tells me Craig has yet to get his key back.

Susannah : 11th Aug 2006 - 01:16 GMT

Either that or there's a hobo walking around with new used sneakers and a tummy ache!

zagg: 11th Aug 2006 - 01:29 GMT

I hope James and Craig get back together, just so they can break up again and we can have more signs...

is that awful?

Susannah : 11th Aug 2006 - 12:56 GMT

How else will we ever come to know the true meaning of minute rice?
