Possibly. But I remember seeing a white Cadillac convertible complete with chromed running boards and chrome and white spare tire covers (you know, for the 2 spares that sit above the running board between the doors and the front wheels) and on the front of the hood... Longhorn steer horns at least 4 or 5 feet wide! This was about 15 years ago, and was in a bad area in the east end of downtown late at night. The car had Quebec plates, and was parked with the top down, and nobody was going near that car. Even the bikers seemed to be nervous of it. Dunno who owned that car, but they must have had an extreme bad-ass rep to get that kind of fear/respect out of people.

Point is, while the car in your pic is typically a Calgary type of thing, it may have a twin in Winnipeg, Montreal, or even Charlottetown. But definitely a nice pic.

I would love to go back and visit Calgary again one of these days. It has grown so much since I moved away in the 70's.

You got the general concept, t@ngent, but the type I saw looked like a replica of a 1930's era luxury car, with wire-spoke rims and extruded fenders. I think it was a special-edition Caddy, but I never actually did get a good look at the nameplate. Damn thing was at least 22 feet long, and half of that was hood.

haha love it. but come on, the horns are one thing, but a whole skull on the hood? i think that's bonus points!

EvilGentleman: 26th Jul 2006 - 19:13 GMT

True, true. Very good point. Skulls on hoods are quite possibly a unique Calgaryism.

i saw a special on tv the other night about the "calgary stampede"... i never knew the city was so associated with cattle/cowboys... now this entry makes alot more sense to me ;)

ksedge: we don't call it cowtown for nothing!

Ooooh, I love those cars, I'm a HUGE fan Cadillac Eldorado and with the horns it's even better and I'm not even North American!
