I saw the Patton Memorial Museum on the side of Interstate 10 going from California to Georgia and had to stop. The museum was closed but I got shots of this statue. I just noticed that alot of my pictures that I take with my digital camera are crooked, I never had that issue with my film camera. I need to work on that.

Biff: Where is this exactly, it looks tragic or sad...

General Eisenhower went on to become President, while this old General did not die, but just faded away.

Old Blood and Guts was one of the most controversial and amazing men of the 20th century. A short listing:

- Wealthy Californian bigoted redneck with a mother who idolized the Confederates
- Represented America in the 1912 Stockholm Olmpics in the pentathlon. Finished in 5th.
- Led team that killed the head of Pancho Villa's bodyguards in 1916
- Was the driving force behind the implementation of battle tanks in the US Army
- Was General Eisenhower's commanding officer just before the start of WW2.
- Fought Rommel in North Africa
- Liberated Sicily
- Fought at Normandy on D-Day
- Used Nazi Blitzkrieg tactic against the Nazis, resulting ir rapid American gains in France
- Foresaw the Cold War, wanted to kick the Soviets out of Eastern Europe
- Pissed off almost everybody on the planet at one time or another
- Was respected by his enemies, even Hitler and Stalin, who he wanted dead
- Died as a result of a car accident in Germany in December 1945, at the age of 60
- Buried in Hamm, Luxembourg

Rest in peace, George S. Patton. You earned it.

Next time I go to California, I will have to take I-10, if only to see this museum.

Thanks for the post.

The above statue was created by Austin Duel of Scottsdale, Az. who served as a combat artist in Vietnam I met Austin at a confab in Scottsdale of the Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Assocation. He also created the "Fallen Marine and Corpsman" statue in front of the Alamo
