So I just had family in town and this allowed me to do some tourist-type things I'd always wanted to do, like go to the top of the and take a tour of .

I'd have figured if I wanted to see the bay or the downtown skyline from the bay I could just take a ferry and save some bucks vs. the tour [If you visit Seattle on a budget, take a ferry to Bainbridge Island to get upper deck access and a good view of the ] But then I wouldn't have gotten to see these things, as the tour goes 'round to the where they need big things to move other big things.

Lately I've been inordinately fixated with the construction in the city, and this also extends to the shipping cranes, which I've only previously seen from a distance.

Just two weeks ago I was watching these cranes slide by in a bus window as I was returning from a friend's wedding [good luck Jason & Ashlee] and plotting how I'd get closer to them, maybe by following the railroad tracks.

Then I ended up on this tour and lucked out.

we can see the cranes at the port of oakland. but were kind of far away so they look like robot dogs.

We should demand greater access to shipyards. Perhaps if we show our artistic license to gain admission? Ok, enough from this pundit. I'll be good now.

I got caught driving without my artistic license once...
