Fire
[previous] :: [next]I looked out my window earlier this evening and noticed fire trucks flying down the street with their lights on. I ripped my camera out of my camera and jumped on my bike in pursuit of the trucks. About 5 blocks away, I caught up with the trucks. They were at a small office building near downtown. There ended up being no fire, just smoke in the hallways.
Curious onlookers on the other side of the street

And the flashing lights on police cars in Utah were yellow, or yellow and green, from what I remember from my 1989 road trip. A little chance to jump on your typos: Did you cause much damage when you ripped your camera out of your camera? ;-) Chris Erb: 30th Jun 2006 - 12:47 GMTThe yellow trucks used to freak me out when I first moved here. I couldn't figure out why they were yellow when the rest of the world has red trucks. The thing that really freaks me out however is cities with yellow or orange fire hydrants. I actually ripped mycamera out of my computer haha. If only I had another camera, the one I have is a steaming pile of crap! Peter: 30th Jun 2006 - 14:44 GMTlol. my grandfather grew up/lived in a town that had yellow firetrucks, a few hours away from where i grew up. he was in the habit of saying "is a firetruck yellow?!" (in the same way as one would say "is the sky blue?!", in answer to an obvious question)... but in my town, the firetrucks were red or orange, so i never understood what he was trying to say. then, he explained that in his town they were yellow. hahaha. random. oh, and btw, i really dig that last one, with all the lights and reflections. nice. EvilGentleman: 30th Jun 2006 - 15:22 GMTSomewhere here in the Montreal region, I know I have seen blue fire hydrants, but I'm not sure where. Peter: 30th Jun 2006 - 15:24 GMTwhere i grew up, in tennessee, most of the hydrants were blue, with the caps and tops painted white. apparently, they do it for visibility, especially in rural/overgrown areas. here in nyc, most of em are rusty black-gray. youre guaranteed to find several lining each block, so i suppose visibility isnt such an issue. EvilGentleman: 10th Jul 2006 - 15:34 GMTAlmost every fire truck in Montreal is red, so I was quite surprised to see this yellow one at the Urgences Sante building by the corner of Cavendish and Cote de Liesse, in the Saint-Laurent borough.
Peter: 10th Jul 2006 - 16:25 GMTive always liked airport fire trucks best... they look unstoppable (and seriously menacing):
