Remember spring? This is a bit of what it looked like in the little oasis surrounding my house. I've been so busy at work, I only dumped down the few shots I've taken in the last two months last weekend, so now there's all this out of date material to look at. Part of what I love about photography (and city photography in particular) is that it allows you to remember the little, mundane details that change subtly over time, and that all add up to create your reality on any given day.

I love how spring is a bright, fresh green, speckled with garish colours. You can feel the life bursting forth from everything. Summer is still beautiful, but the same streets and trees and parks are a more uniform, deep, dull green, or even brown depending on the rain. The sunlight goes from bright, crisp spring white-yellow to deep hazy summer orange-yellow. Everything is still alive, but no longer bursting; more holding out against the fierce sun and heat and dust. I like how once a season has set in, you can barely remember what the previous one felt and looked like...the pictures barely even seem real.

the last picture is wonderful. At any moment the flowers may all fly away.

Thanks folks. For karma purposes, I should make sure to point out that while that is my house, I am only renting two floors of it...the neighbour upstairs is an arborist (tree scientist, essentially) and a tireless green thumb - I have him to thank for the tulips, peonies, many other wonderful flowers, meticulously groomed back yard and feeder in article 4363. I just sat on my duff and photographed the results...Thanks Todd!

I love the last picture, it is serene and peaceful it brings out a sense of purity and calmness. Spring is the most season I like because flowers blossom and every flower has its own purpose.

Okay, Spring Is Indeed Here!

Spring flowers such as Tulips, Irises, Daffodils, Crocuses, Hydrangeas and Hyacynths are now on sale at the corner store, so Spring must really be here. Although the temperature was at a high 2C today, these plants were outside as it...
