Forever Hollywood

One of the things that's fun about California is juxtapositions. On the tour of the stars' homes, I learned that Mick Jagger used to live across from Elvis Presley and, given another year or two, Sly Stallone and Ella Fitzgerald would have been neighbors. This goes on after death! Johnny Ramone is right next to Hattie McDaniel! (This, btw, is the Forever Hollywood cemetery, right around the block from Paramount Studios.)

Mel Blanc - the closest I ever came to having a Messiah. Rest well, dear friend, you worked hard and deserve a happy eternity.

Picture if you will, for a minute, the residents of this cemetery living together in eternal peace and harmony. I see a Cecil B. DeMille movie such as the Ten Commandments set with touches from Gone With the Wind, while a Johnny Ramone soundtrack plays in the background, and all the voices you hear are saying things like "Cut! That's a wrap!", "Ehhh, what's up, Doc?", "Baaad ol' puddy tat", "You long-eared varmint" and "Ándale! Ándale! Arriba!"

The afterlife must be so cool. I will definitely try to take as long as possible to get there, but I will not fear it.

Sue: Beautiful, poignant and weird. Thank you kc.

Thanks, Sue, and good point, EG--a comforting thought, Chas. Addams goes to Hollywood.

its hollywood forever (www.hollywoodforever.com). every saturday in the summer/early fall they show movies on the big lawn (where there are no headstones). its a great event to see good cinema and picnic/byob (www.cinespia.org)

there was a special ramones night last night where they showed rock n roll high school and unseen footage of an english ramones concert in 79. pretty cool stuff
