I spotted this rather unconventional graffiti on the front of a house on Pacific street in Prospect Heights... This article has been viewed 3423 times in the last 2 years Peter: 2nd Jun 2006 - 00:29 GMTlol, chia... classic! is yoga considered "unchristian" by christians?! chiamattt: 2nd Jun 2006 - 00:32 GMTIt is to capitalist christians. ;p Laurette Willis is also the author of "basic steps to godly fitness"
sally: 2nd Jun 2006 - 01:59 GMTwtf is today jesus day and no one remembered to tell me? i was walking through atlantic station today, listening to 'king of carrot flowers, pt II' when suddenly i found myself surrounded by 40 young pilgrims singing christian songs and about 15 more handing out cds. i managed to dodge the first 14 but the last one got me. as she put the disk in my hand she leaned right up close to my earphone and shouted 'REMEMBER... JESUS LOVES YOU!' peter, the cd is yours whether you want it or not. i think you need it more than i do anyways. jeeff: 2nd Jun 2006 - 03:15 GMTsally, every day is jesus day. *looks at you steadily for a long time* elaine: 2nd Jun 2006 - 09:35 GMTpeter, ditto tai chi. that, too creeps out the xtians. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 2nd Jun 2006 - 13:40 GMTCan any form of exercise where you have your arse in the air be christian? And those ungodly names like "Downward facing dog," they just make you think of s-e-x. Peter: 2nd Jun 2006 - 15:37 GMTsally: ill gladly take the cd. it will fit nicely next to the cd of music i got from the strange sionist hippy guy that plays songs about jerusalem in front of the met. also: what was up with the pilgrims? i saw em too- scads of em- at the wtc station yesterday! they appeared to be a contingent of Mennonite elaine: 2nd Jun 2006 - 21:36 GMThurrah for heathens. Biff: 4th Jun 2006 - 00:42 GMTThat which you know, you do not know and that which you do not know, you do not know... Monty Python ian: 6th Jun 2006 - 20:44 GMTAmazing that I actually know who "King of Carrot Flowers, pt II" is by. mark: 7th Jun 2006 - 11:59 GMTtai chi by itself is just exercises and yoga as well. There is a trend really since the 60's to accept things like these without examining the roots and implications spiritually. So Christians belief it can be dangerous to invite things that they view as spiritually harmful into your mind and soul. Humanists believe there really is nothing spiritual and so anything is acceptable. If we were talking about food we wouldnt see any problem with people choosing not to allow certain foods into their body. I have a question. Why is Buddhism so acceptable to people when they really know little about it? Buddism was only a religeon that was supposed to last 500 years (Buddah). The Chinese and Japanese changed the religeon to fit their desires so really its not really Buddism. For example getting drunk was never allowed for monks until it reached Japan as well as marriage. Buddah abandoned his family. The Japanese had to turn a blind eye when they accepted Buddhism because it was taboo to leave family. Some Christians just fear anything they dont know about. And alot of non christians fear Christianity or Jesus because they have been shown a poor representation, but really that is a poor excuse for not examining the teachings of Christ individually. A fundemental belief of Christians is that they should share the wealth that has been given them through Jesus- yah they do it in weird ways out of guilt and lets face it there are alot of stupid Christians- but if they excluded stupid people we would be criticizing them for that too- Christianity does not exclude anyone except of course those who refuse to believe the teachings of Christ.
Jenna: 19th Jun 2006 - 15:26 GMTMark ~ who says people know so little about Buddhism? Hindu's believe that Buddha is 11th reincarnation of Shiva, we are currently awaiting the next and final incarnation to arrive. Siddartha (Buddha) left his family to follow his path in life... though this path he came to enlightenment. " Christianity does not exclude anyone except of course those who refuse to believe the teachings of Christ." .... I never met a Hindu or a Buddhist who condemmed another religion or way of life, God will decide that people should not! Meditation can do wonders towards peace and harmony, though understanding that we are all humans regardless of our religion would be the first step. I agree people would have less fear in life, if they just read a little more and asked questions to things they know little or nothing about. Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
