Decapitated Bird (Warning: Yes, Really)
[previous] :: [next]this is a grisly example of nature's inhumanity.
This article has been viewed 2146 times in the last 2 years Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 31st May 2006 - 20:25 GMTI think those are its lungs hanging out. Unless it's a robin. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 31st May 2006 - 20:26 GMTsorry. that was mean and nasty. I'll go and be inhumane to myself now. sorry. Chris Erb: 1st Jun 2006 - 00:58 GMTI used to see this all the time. My mouse used to destroy birds in my lawn all the time. There were always feathers everywhere but no sign of a bird. joey: 1st Jun 2006 - 02:58 GMTthats an oxymoron (conjoining contradictory terms). procyon: 1st Jun 2006 - 03:31 GMTthere were two fully feathered snow-white wings and a few bare gray bones connecting them in front of the building where i live a few weeks ago. since i started school in chicago i thought there were just a lot of birds exploding on campus for some reason, maybe because of the mythical power of wedding rice to blow them up (there are a ton of churches, parks and chapels near campus and a lot of people get married in them) or because of a science experiment (enrico fermi worked here). procyon: 1st Jun 2006 - 03:32 GMTum, in between the first and second sentence there is supposed to be something about how i see assorted fragments of birds lying around almost every day. elaine: 1st Jun 2006 - 07:06 GMTmaybe the killer was interrupted. it looks like quite a bit of tasty whatever is left, there. aer suzuki: 1st Jun 2006 - 08:52 GMTThat's a beautiful image, seriously. I mean, yeah, I can feel sorry for the bird, but I can also look at it and think : 'Man, the colors and texture are fantastic.' Cool shot, the leaves almost look arranged. jack: 1st Jun 2006 - 11:38 GMTalso animals are not humans, therefore, there can be no nature's inhumanity. Peter: 1st Jun 2006 - 13:50 GMTi love those maple seed-pods. when i was a kid, we called them "helecopters", because we'd collect a ton of em, separate them all into individual pods, then toss em up into the air and watch them twirl down. i suppose i was an easily entertained kid... little ukraine: 1st Jun 2006 - 14:19 GMTjoey, jack, i think he's making a joke in reference to the caption of the infamous 'cat in ice' post. awesome, jeeff.
Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 1st Jun 2006 - 15:24 GMTPeter, we used to play the same game. But these days, it's called "Black Ops Death Strike: Take out the Terror Cell." EvilGentleman: 1st Jun 2006 - 15:54 GMTI always wondered where McNuggets came from. Now I know. Thanks. jeeff: 1st Jun 2006 - 16:33 GMTlittle ukraine is right, i was only poking fun. as peter knows, i seem to have an affinity for dismembered bird corpses. as for the maple seedpods, they are called keys! jeeff: 2nd Jun 2006 - 03:06 GMTi should also note that during the trip we saw an improbable number of dead birds. i could have done a series. at one point we climbed up on a roof to photograph some graffiti (photo #5) and there were 3 dead chicks of varying age scattered across the roof. fairly large, pigeons i'd guess. must have been a failed nest. it was creepy.
