Rhubarb Takes Revenge!

Every summer my boyfriend and I lease a garden plot through the city of Toronto. This is the rhubarb plant growing in our plot. It has gone a bit wild this spring... We don't have much experience with rhubarb so we aren't sure whether to let it flower or what...
Maybe we'll make a nice rhubarb pie.

I have rhubarb growing in my back yard and it is very big (probably bigger and leafier than yours) and I'm not getting anything like that.
Maybe a different kind of rhubarb?

I don't know enough about rhubarb - not sure about different varieties... I got this rhubarb from my grandparents who live up north near Algonquin Park.

Always nice to see rhubarb in flower, but your stems will go woody and inedible. Cut the flower now to preserve the stems, for harvesting. Or just enjoy a rare experience. If you're planning to harvest, mulch around the crown (at base of plant); with well rotted manure and plenty of water...
