Our Sky Is Chalk

Thanks for posting these, Paul. I'm just sitting here like "yes, the sky is chalk"; i can totally empathize on a day like today is in NYC.

I think that I've been secretly hoping, for a while actually, that you'd someday happen to post some photos of Chicago, and the whole taxi-vibe, and lately, youve been doing just that.

The shots rock, btw. Thanks again.

Thanks Dude. The fact that I recently purchased a digi-cam has made it very much easier to experiment: it's now possible to shoot several hundred pics at a crack - without worrying about the cost of film stock and developing.

It's taking me a bit of time to get used to the cam. After some research, I took the plunge and invested (credit card *coughcough*) in a unit with a 4mp format. Hmmm. I got a Sony with Zeiss glass that writes directly to cd. After factoring in the extra memory necessary for a Canon, it is actually less expensive than any of the "G" models. And the convenience of the cd is...really nice. The only complaint about this model in any of the reviews was its size - but I have big hands - as you do too, I'm sure - and the small size of many cams is actually a mark against them, in my book. I am a bit cautious with it now - worried about having it and drunks in the car at the same time.

But I'm driving, and looking, all the time. I have a few series in mind...

as long as youre always looking, life is good. you take photos when you can and file all the rest into "probable inspirations for text" later, heh.

the cam sounds cool. were saving for a new (better) one here nowadays, so perhaps that will boost out photographic output (weve basically burned out hte old digicam, believe it or not).

do you guys have plexiglas barriers between driver/passenger in a cab like here in nyc? nowadays, they leave the sliding panel open, in the middle ofthe barrier, but back in the day, when nyc was much harsher, i recall many a time having to pay the cabbie through the tiny little security flip/door that went through the barrier... even though im about the least dangerous passenger to ever ride in a cab.

These remind me so much of crummy Council Estates here in the UK. That photo could just as easily be from deepest darkest birmingham or southest eastest london. i like the synchronicity.
