If you live in Toronto, probably you have seen this guy. All year around Santa.
This article has been viewed 5124 times in the last 2 years Jamie: 26th Apr 2006 - 14:41 GMTgreat photos, we're soon gonna have to rename this site torontonoise.org! Michelle: 26th Apr 2006 - 19:59 GMTOh yes - there's good old Santa Claus. The last time I saw him was on a blustery cold day and he persisted in his state of undress. Apparently he is some sort of advertising gimmick, although I'm not sure... urbanghost: 26th Apr 2006 - 20:20 GMThis calls himself zanta, not santa...and he's definitely not advertising anything, he just wants to be famous/infamous. he seems crazy, but if you talk to him, he's very clear-headed seeming. no need to be timid photographing him by the way, you could have walked right up to him and he would have gladly obliged. he loves attention. jeeff: 26th Apr 2006 - 20:51 GMTin the summertime i've seen him doing pushups in the fountains in dundas square. i suspect it was contact with the filthy fountain water that changed him permanently into 'zanta'.
Cameo: 27th Apr 2006 - 03:55 GMTI've seen that guy doing push-ups infront of my favourite monday-night watering hole when it's -20 and snowing outside in the middle of January or Febuary... He stops in front of the window, drops down into the snow and starts pounding them out... What a freak! Marita: 27th Apr 2006 - 14:19 GMTAwwww...you're making me so so so homesick! It's still winter in Yellowknife & we won't be doing any lying-on-benches-in-the-sun til July. Enjoy! EvilGentleman: 27th Apr 2006 - 15:28 GMTI remember passing through Yellowknife on my way to study at Aurora College in Fort Smith. I had not seen a city for two years when I hit Yellowknife, since I had been living in Coral Harbour, Nunavut at the time. I remenber the first thing I did was buy four 12-inch subs at Subway, 2 to eat on the spot, and two to eat when I got to Fort Smith the next day. Man, were those a treat, after not seeing a restaurant for over two years. Or a tree, either. concrete jello: 2nd May 2006 - 17:07 GMTi just saw Toronto Santa getting arrested at the intersection of Bloor and Dundas St. w.!!! he was in the middle of the street yelling "fuck cops", and stopping traffic, and then two cops ran up and tackled him. he was screaming, and yelling out his email address... what a shameless self promoter! i will not be surprised if he is not sighted much more often, because soon enough he will be locked up. poor guy... does anybody know how this happened? there was an article about him in the toronto star a year or so ago, it said he was a construction worker who fell off a building and hit his head. he has been on workers comp since then. after the accident, he started hanging around MuchMusic wearing his santa hat, trying to get onto tv and become famous. he does the pushups because he is trying to get into the Guiness book of world records for most pushups. i am personally concerned about the guy, because he is talking to himself more and more, and i think he's becoming more violent. Anne M: 20th May 2006 - 14:37 GMTRe:Zanta Clause. I was on a Greyhound with him for 4 hours from Toronto to Belleville. Non-stop entertainment. He seems a bit nuts but harmles. He called me Princess and gave me a private flex. I kind of dig him. Adds character to Toronto-every big city needs a guy like him. Stephanie: 22nd May 2006 - 17:26 GMTI just spent the weekend at Trudeau Park in Tweed Ontario, and there was Toronto Zanta, as he always is. He was great entertainment for us and got some great pics of him. Cant wait to come to Toronto to see him again :)
E: 5th Jul 2006 - 18:25 GMTI saw this dude outside of Sassafraz, doing pushups against the pole, with all these rich people sitting on the patio laughing, and even the cops just laughed. A little loud, but funny... MMMMMeeeeerrrrrrrryyyy christmas!!!!!! anon (fctnnbsc16w-156034208200.nb.aliant.net): 6th Jul 2006 - 21:08 GMTThis guy is creative and bold .. When was the last time you did something for what you believe in...?? The "act" of dressing as the "character" of Zanta.. was originally for his daughter who was given (by the courts might i add) to his ex-wife and just to make her laugh. Apparently this guy is NOT crazy, and he makes you laugh .. fame or no fame aside it make Toronto Toronto if you ask me ... jeeff: 6th Jul 2006 - 21:55 GMTuh, just because there's supposedly some sort of rationale behind his character doesn't mean that "apparently" he's not crazy. also, who says people aren't laughing? did you read any of the comments? TORONTO ZANTA: 29th Jul 2006 - 15:24 GMTDID YOU WITNESS THOSE TTC SECURITY TACKLE ME AT DUNDAS AND BLOOR LM GOING TO SUE THE FUCK OUT OF THEM CAN YOU PLEASE STEP FORWORD AND BE MY WITNESS I HAV OTHERS THANKS CHECK THIS OUT WWW.TORONTOZANTA.CA THX ksedge: 29th Jul 2006 - 16:13 GMTi used to see zanta all the time when i worked in bloor west village. always interesting to see what he was doing. great website zanta! Liam: 1st Nov 2006 - 00:35 GMTI have a buddy who met his friends in wasaga and aparently he hit his head after he fell off a balcony one day. then his wife took off with the kids cus he wasnt the same. cyber: 1st Nov 2006 - 21:28 GMTI saw him during the filmfest in September. He was doing his thing in Yorkville and huge crowds of people watching for film stars at Sassfraz restaurant and then out of nowwhere Zanta jumped on the hood and roof of a toronto cab and did 20 pushups!!! Everyone was in shock , especially the cabbie who did not do a thing! Wow Zanta you should be a little more carefull, because toronto cabbies are not the best drivers in the world!!!! Blondie: 24th Jan 2007 - 00:31 GMTI saw Zanta at a night club ( not sure how he got in ) and must say he is crazy, but very entartaining. He has a hot body and lots of potential, but I think menatlly he's not all up there. Its such a waste of a man, pretty sad, he can do so much better.
evo emman: 18th Jul 2007 - 05:56 GMTwhere is he? is he still in toronto waycoolsmoothies: 20th Nov 2007 - 00:35 GMTZanta is wicked so much personality, he can really make you laugh Comment on this article..Browsing articles by Gabi - [previous] :: [next] |
