The Future Einstein's?

- Elicar - Friday, April 21st, 2006 : goo

The BCE was the site of a convention of the "Einstein's of our Future" today. These young geniuses were so enthusiastic about their work. The picture above were of the inventors of No Mess Pastels (or whatever fancy names they coined). "You can even rub it off (with the head) and make cool things, without any mess!"

image 11230

This invention is a binder knapsack. Unfortunately, I was holding my lunch on one hand and talking picture on the other, so the inventor's pictures was quite blurry and unpostable!

These young inventors invented an automatic table cleaner.

The inventors of a fortified umbrella. Gone are the blown-away umbrella days!

Wheels will never get stuck again. Thanks to the brush that clears them away.

And for the life of me, I do not know what this is. They were told to pack up while I was taking their picture, so I did not bother ask.
image 11241

It was quite an experience. Although major product development is needed for the most, if not all of the inventions, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of these young geniuses to describe what their inventions were. I discovered later why they were more than willing. They thought I was one of the judges.

great pictures! Fun to see young minds at work. I wish I'd known that this was on, I would have dropped in to see too...

jack: 21st Apr 2006 - 21:00 GMT

i once invented the endless roll of toilet paper but it ended all too soon.

kat: 21st Apr 2006 - 23:06 GMT

AHHHHH!!! SCIENCE FAIR MEMORIES! Except this of course, is not science fair. Nerds united! By the way, that last invention seems to be a long bungee cord attached to a duct-tape covered wing. Perhaps they are trying to fly.

EvilGentleman: 23rd Apr 2006 - 23:26 GMT

I wish I knew a safe way to patent ideas without risking the idea being stolen. I have so many ideas for neat inventions, but I am so afraid to take the big step.

jack, it sounds like your idea crapped out on you.

I feel bad to burst the bubble of the very happy-looking eSix invention crew, but I had created the same thing in the 1980's by using a walkman and a collection of splitter jacks from Radio Shack. I was proud of my "invention", until one day an elder walked by and said that when they were a teen in the 1940's, they had an invention that allowed them all to listen to music at the same time. It was called a speaker. Sigh - back to the old drawing board. Still, at least they are trying to be thoughtful and creative, so I end my mini-lecture with this thought: How many unsuccessful inventions were thought up by Einstein, Edison, da Vinci, etc, before they came up with one that worked? Never give up trying, perseverance does pay off.

eSix group : 25th Apr 2006 - 21:55 GMT

hey well stupid evilgentliman u only use the earphones when ur at skool during recess. where can u find a speaker than? come use ur brain!! nd there not just 6 speaker. when ur by ur self u put the other 4 away in a case attached to the earphones. our inventionn rockssss!!!!!!!

Chris: 25th Apr 2006 - 22:19 GMT

The All In ONE Pilow is the coolest invention

EvilGentleman: 25th Apr 2006 - 22:35 GMT

Now why on earth would a future Einstein use such illiterate uneducated words to express themselves? Obviously we are dealing with a faker here. Nice try... And as far as speakers go, try these. www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=SRST33BLUE&Dept=audio&CategoryName=pa_PADepartmentAccessories_PersonalSpeakers

The real inventor team would have noticed my words of encouragement as well, but I suspect that the April 25th 21:55 GMT response was typed by a person who can barely read.

As for the real eSix crew:
These kids are on the right track, they just did not hit paydirt with this particular attempt. But their minds seem to be headed in interesting directions, so it is possible we may see interesting new things from one or all of them one of these days. Keep trying, it will pay off sooner or later.

Elicar: 26th Apr 2006 - 00:09 GMT

EvilG, Einstein was labelled as a slow learner and Edison was described as "addled". So, this eSix or whoever he is, still has some hope. Don't write him off yet! ;)

EvilGentleman: 26th Apr 2006 - 02:03 GMT

I agree entirely Elicar. Every human being is full of potential greatness. But it requires the right attitude...

Chris Erb: 27th Apr 2006 - 23:47 GMT

The all in one pillow is pretty neat. I have a good invention for kool aide but I need to figure out if it's been done yet. if not, I think it could be huge!

esix group member: 1st May 2006 - 01:47 GMT

sry evilg. i dont no who wrote that but its true. u cant always find a a speaker around nd anyways ppl today r using mp3's more than cd's so they use more earphones than speakers. nd if u say oh well u can hook up an mp3 to an speaker, then thats not right, becaus eu dont have time to do that when u can use eSix. oh nd thx for everyone who supported nd stood by us.

savyravii: 1st May 2006 - 01:49 GMT

heyy i luv dat eSix invention. think its pretty rad.

sally 5548: 1st May 2006 - 01:51 GMT

evilg. why r u hating on kids who r like 13-14? nd so ya wat. there kids. they use language like this, even if there smart or not. nd i think there invention is pretty cool. its like a 2 in 1 kinda thing. love it!

EvilGentleman: 1st May 2006 - 02:06 GMT

Good grief, I said you were on the right track, and that you had potential. Plaese read the whole thing before you overreact. And as far as the speaker thing goes, I was just telling you what the elder told me when I was 14. They were basically wondering why I went to so much trouble to do something that something simpler that they were so much more familiar with could do. I understood their point, but I argued a bit, too. I was where you were once. I did not continue. I am encouraging you to continue, so you can do better. Please stop seeing everything I say in a negative light. I only responded harshly to the one who insulted me. Once again, I ask you to read in full before responding.

EvilGentleman: 1st May 2006 - 02:53 GMT

Oh, and sally 5548: Since when did expressing one's opinion in a balanced manner become hate? As Elicar pointed out above, Einstein himself was called a slow learner, yet he went on to become synonymous with the word genius. He did not freak out when faced with less than perfect praise, he just proved the doubters wrong. And if you read carefully, I have included or referenced words of encouragement in every comment I have posted in this thread. So why all the hostility? All great inventors will face at least mild criticism, and any criticism I may have posted is definitely mild. But yes, I was quite rude to the faker, who it seems even the real eSix crew agrees is a faker. But my nasty words were directed at him, not them. Anyone can see that. Please watch what you say, as you are only fanning the flames higher for no productive reason. I think we can all rise above the baiting and insulting game.

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: ....ah, the kids of today...

EvilGentleman: 5th May 2006 - 14:54 GMT

I think my generation has been very irresponsible when it comes to parenting. I believe there are no bad kids, just bad parents. I have no idea what the kids just said, I can see the start of it on the recent comments page, but whatever it was, it must have been pretty nasty to get deleted. I know this a pretty tolerant website, so I know that the boundaries must be getting pushed again. Hmmmmm, I wonder if I posted with the name InnocentGentleman, if people would be less likely to start arguing with me, I seem to be getting involved in a few too many for my liking. Maybe I'm just a jerk, who knows? ;-)

Anyways, I seriously wish you kids luck with your future inventions. You seem to be intelligent, but maybe not all that smart yet. I should know, I'm the same way. (Intelligence is having a mind with great abilities, smart is knowing how to use that mind properly. As you grow older, you will become smarter. We all do. It's normal) The only thing I would suggest: learn to control your temper. You don't wanna end up like this guy.

jeeff: 5th May 2006 - 18:27 GMT

at what point does a good kid become a bad parent?

EvilGentleman: Usually when they have children.

Elicar: 5th May 2006 - 20:29 GMT

I agree EvilG. You seem to be riling up, children and adults alike. ;)

A good discussion is always pleasant, a good debate is always challenging, but bickering with children... I will leave that open.

Children have limited experience in life. No matter how intelligent they are, they are still children and would react accordingly. Wisdom comes with experience (take note, I did not say age.)

As I always say, if everyone else becomes children, it is always the adult that saves the day. And I am not referring to age.

eSix group : 6th May 2006 - 01:25 GMT

can u stop talking bout our product? dont u have a life evilg? jus stop. k i dont care wat u say so u can stop with ur comments even if they are good or bad, jus stop talking bout our product!

EvilGentleman: 6th May 2006 - 02:34 GMT

I have not mentioned your product for five days. The only reason I am still commenting on this page is because you keep coming back to insult me. I think you kids are about the same age as my own kids, and there is no way I will tolerate behaviour of this sort from children your age. I am a non-Christian, and I definitely do not believe in that "turn the other cheek" crap.

Elicar, sorry for continuing here. I truly am trying to have respect for you, but this is the second time I have felt that you are looking down your nose at me. I have a mind of my own, and I do not take orders well. Please keep that in mind. Some of your advice, I appreciate very much. Other times, well, you get the picture. I have nothing more to say here, unless everyone wants to keep trying to use me as a punching bag. The price I pay for being honest....

EvilGentleman: 7th May 2006 - 07:24 GMT

Well, if that is the way you kids want things to be, that is fine with me. I am getting too tired of this, so say whatever you want after this, I have better things to do. But before I go...

My favourite inventions here were the binder knapsack and the automatic brush cleaner. I wonder if the brush cleaner team has also given thought to doing the same thing with combs, it would be almost as useful as the brush cleaner.

Honourable mentions would go to the all-in-one pillow and (yes, I'm serious) the eSix group. I never actually said I did not like the invention, just that I had problems when I did a similar thing many years ago. Of course, my idea was a lot more basic than this. I don't know how well it retracts, but if it retracts well, that must have taken a lot of work to figure out. Good job. Too bad we got too busy being stupid to be able to discuss the positive side of things. Good luck, kids. :-) Peace out.

been: 17th Feb 2007 - 04:38 GMT

Just how does one clean the brush cleaner?

Is this another invention?
It is difficult to clean brushes, I find, at least without pulling off the protective tips that many have. Scalp says ouch then.
