i was on my way to brooklyn to visit my aunt and an old buddy from lafayette high school. i took the pic and then noticed the sign, 'no taking photos' but i thought it meant not to stop on bridge so i kept taking shots. the bridge cost the kids in brooklyn and staten island something, it cost them their ocean voyage. when we went to visit my cousins in staten island back in the 40's we had to take the ferry from brooklyn. it was our ocean voyage, the most exciting trip and adventure. i can close my eyes right now and see the bow of the ferry cutting through the water. it's been 60 years and i still remember as if it were yesterday.

i know what your going to say, was jack shooting while driving, well kinda, ok yes. i was headed to brooklyn and saw the shot and took it. so there.

coming home, my friend patty wasn't home so i called it a day and saw the jet so i had to. you guys would have loved staten island in the 40's. my cousins lived on graves street off of bailey avenue and i went to see the house but it was gone. all new attached brick houses have taken the same amount of property that the house stood on. there was a garden with all kinds of berry trees and bushes. apple trees and a few peach trees. needless to say i ate my full of fruits everytime i was there. my aunt and uncle are gone now but what a life they led.

jack: great shots! im so glad youre posting your photos here... i'm always excited to see your shots and hear your stories.

the shot of the plane in midair is nice, too. i live right under that flight-path. my cellphone often gets disconnected when large jets fly over.

serious correction, my son-in-law was driving and i took the pic's. i totally forgot.
