Panning Turned into Stalking
[previous] :: [next]Determined that my Lumix will no longer gather any more layers of dust, I took it out of its hiding place and blew the dust layers away. I set myself out to learn the panning mode. Worried that passers-by and my neighbours would think I am crazy (I am, but that's beside the point!), I parked myself in the security of my front porch, behind the yet to be cleaned windows. It seemed so easy when I read the instructions. Yeah right. Of the 50 pictures I took, only this turned okay:
And this is only after I went out and sat on my front steps. Forget the neighbours thinking I am crazy. That's not such a bad thing! I wish it had worked on this one!
Too bad there's no more room for additional passenger. But how did panning turn into stalking? Well, I got frustrated of course when I couldn't get a good shot! Someone has to bear the brunt of my frustration. So, I decided to practise the zoom function and zoomed on this one (All the following shots are taken behind the yet to be cleaned windows):
Whoops! I think he saw me!
I guess not!
Did hool's models pass by my home today?

elaine: 3rd Apr 2006 - 07:59 GMTno matter how you get into stalking, it's all good clean fun. except the illegal bits which are illegal for being super creepy. only you know when to stop. however, if your stalkee calls the police, you may have some soul searching to do, because you probably didn't know when to stop, and you may be super creepy. that's the law.
elaine: 3rd Apr 2006 - 10:53 GMTi love you too, jamie, and i am writing this from across the street, and watching you through the window, ::sigh:: grange: 3rd Apr 2006 - 12:02 GMTNot to mention the guy who dosent like his picture taken and SNAPS!!!!. grange: 3rd Apr 2006 - 12:20 GMTI had a neigbour who was nuts .HE figured I was up to something , so he set up a video camera in his porch to film me anytime i went out side, like to shovel snow ,play with he kids etc .I talked to the police about it as it was Way creepy .They said as long as im out in the public area he can do that ! I guess stalking is following , Snapping pics is ok. Sort of confused me with that logic as I was on my property . grange: 3rd Apr 2006 - 12:36 GMT Short form for "just kidding" . Not John Kennedy ..lol That was aboutthe phone thing ...lol.
Elicar: 3rd Apr 2006 - 13:42 GMTIs there such a thing as opportunity stalker. This guy happened to be there when I started snapping. If I were to really stalk someone, I would choose someone taller, beefier, and oh, definitely not with that baseball cap! Liz: 3rd Apr 2006 - 18:32 GMTElicar, Congrats on your (eventual) success w/ panning! It is something that I too have tried, but never got the results that you did in that first pic. So way to go! Biff: 3rd Apr 2006 - 19:37 GMTI do not want to pan you, but you need way more practice, Grasshopper. Always remember Memoirs of A Geisha... Elicar: 3rd Apr 2006 - 22:40 GMTThanks for the tip Grange, but naah, I am not about to stalk anybody. I value my own space too much that I could just imagine what a "stalkee" would go through. And imagine if the tide is reversed? I could never have a bad hair day now, could I? ;) Thanks for the words of encouragement Liz. Too many features, so little time! (Oh, is that too many men to stalk, so little time?) Elicar: 4th Apr 2006 - 04:15 GMTAnd oh, Grange, don't you think the camera was set up to scare the burglars away? Could be a fake one, for all ya know! grange: 4th Apr 2006 - 11:54 GMTlol... Nope . Police said he was nuts too after they went to talk to him ...I moved away . to damn creepy for me grange: 4th Apr 2006 - 11:59 GMTspeaking of pic , i cant get mine to load to the site ,,,grrrrrr . Im new with the digital camera .how do i change to 600 pixels.. I contacted the web site but know answer ..I have a sony Cyber-shot 6.0 elaine: 4th Apr 2006 - 13:52 GMTyou need software of some sort. i use photoshoppe, but i am guessing even free software should let you alter your pictures in this way. if whatever came with your camera or computer doesn't want to do it, i believe gimp is good. now, i don't know about anyone else, but i make my images 72dpi first, then change the horizontal to 600 and i also save my image as a copy with 600 in the title to differentiate it from the print version. (screens being 72dpi and prints being usually 300) is that a start? Peter: 4th Apr 2006 - 15:31 GMTeven microsoft photo editor (that ships as the detault photo viewer with windows) has the ability to resize photos... maybe try that? or send em to the editors and theyll do it... S: 5th Apr 2006 - 01:43 GMTI recognized the neighborhood as soon as I saw the pictures. You should have had your camera over at the McDonalds a few months ago when Ashley Simpson was putting on a show there (and I don't mean a concert). Apparently she was drunk and was acting quite rude. I can't remember the whole story, but I know it was at that location.
Carltan : 10th Apr 2006 - 02:19 GMTyeah...good pics and funny lol jeeff: 10th Apr 2006 - 15:47 GMTwhat on earth does stalking have to do with being canadian? life isn't all about being canadian (especially on a website where people from all around the world gather). is it too much to ask that patriotism be expressed as a quiet confidence rather than a blaring donkey bray? i swear our entire country has a case of small-man syndrome because we're stuck beside the US.
jeeff: 10th Apr 2006 - 22:02 GMTyeah, pet peeve i'll admit. i just don't see why people are so willing to define themselves by a set of national cliches. there's a whole wide world out there! Elicar: 10th Apr 2006 - 23:08 GMTHey, it shows passion! That's a good thing! Besides, you are one of the lucky ones who has worked and lived somewhere else other that this country of ours full of stalkers (sorry, I couldn't resist!). You have a better appreciation and perspective than most. Yes, there's a whole wide world to discover. And with technology, it is within our reach, even if we could not physically be there. So people, don't piss off Jeeff! ;) Widen your horizons. Comment on this article[previous] :: [next] |
