Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 22nd Mar 2006 - 18:23 GMTI work in advertising. Shall I work it into the ad I'm writing today? elaine: 22nd Mar 2006 - 18:26 GMTooh! please! i would love that. when i was at school it was a point of pride to write "paralytic against the (insert thing) s/he lay" in every essay, relevant or not, because my friend frances got a special star/tick/mark for it once. and i often put things in to writing or art just for myself... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 22nd Mar 2006 - 18:46 GMTWhen we present concepts to clients they often have fake copy (which is usually Latin 'Loreum ipsum' and the like). When I was an art director, I always liked to hide the word 'quim' in my fake copy. It tickled me to make presentations to a room full of very important people with quim right in their faces (so to speak). Alas, these days I am a writer and never get my hands on the layouts. Plus, I'd rather not get fired. Though it would be a memorable way to go. elaine: 22nd Mar 2006 - 19:06 GMTmakes me think of la perruque www.dci.pomona.edu/~kfitzpatrick/marxwiki/index.php/La_perruque Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 22nd Mar 2006 - 19:11 GMTMy God, that's it exactly. My Marxist tendancies make me subvert my capitalistic job with other creative avenues.
jeeff: 23rd Mar 2006 - 02:06 GMThere are the lyrics to a topical song: 'take stuff from work' take stuff from work. elaine: 23rd Mar 2006 - 07:59 GMTheh. king missile. so many good lyrics. i think i like the one about jesus best. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 23rd Mar 2006 - 14:46 GMTI actually bring pens to work. But I am working on a master plan to steal my Aeron chair. I'm thinking of taking it apart and mailing it to myself. Or waiting until Halloween, throwing a sheet over it and pretending it's a fat kid trick or treating. elaine: 23rd Mar 2006 - 16:17 GMTmy feeling is that if you mailed ME your aeron chair you would get bought another, newer one which you could then steal for yourself. expecially if you ordered two by mistake. Micah: 23rd Mar 2006 - 16:27 GMTI can't get on the internet at work so I somewhat surreptitiously do things like this during my language lab instead (where I am right now). That way it's not a #complete# waste of an hour... Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 23rd Mar 2006 - 16:30 GMTThey are damn good chairs. In fact, even a 10 year old Aeron retains 70% of it's retail value.
