- EvilGentleman - Friday, March 10th, 2006 : goo

I went to the car wash last Friday. Was good to get the road salt off the car.

48 hours later, my car was once again encrusted with road salt. Can't tell it was ever washed.

AWESOME photos! our car is similarly salt-caked. we were actually discussing this exact thing tonight... going to the carwash with it...

You two should do it, Peter. I only thought of taking these pics partway through the wash, and so I missed the full cycle. I also noticed I was not able to get the shot that most people would associate with car washes: the big spinning scrub brushes approaching, then covering the windows. And this car wash did not have the big white felt strips that lather the soap onto the windows.

I think maybe you would have to go to one of the older-style car washes that pulls your car through the various stages of the car wash, if you want to capture the full experience. This set of photos comes from one of those modern car washes that washes the car while it sits still in one spot. I feel the older ones did a better job.

I SEE THE SAME THING EVERY TIME I'M IN THE SHOWER.

GGP: these are great--the blurrier, the better!

jeeff: 10th Mar 2006 - 05:40 GMT

haha, jack - your shower must be bigger than mine.

Really fun shots. We don't own a car and rarely have one for more than a few days (a rant about Avis will spew out here one day very soon). But I love going though a car wash. It's one of the few, simple, childish pleasures there are left. That, and standing in Dylans candy store on third ave and 60th street. It's like being in Willy Wonkas factory.

i like teh second one and the next to last one the best... very sci-fi looking, heh.

3rd ave and 60th is'nt that where the club, 'inner circle' was at one time. i used to go there with my friend tom back in '64' thats 1964 and not 1864 to you babies out there. also there was a german dance hall up thataway some where, can't remember the name. don't be offended with the word 'baby' i use it in a nice way. how about 'all you teenagers' or 'young folk' or 'thirty somethings'. i remember when i was considered a 'baby' by older guys. i was in the reserves waiting to be called up for nam and the guys i worked with were all wwii guys and i'll tell you this, never udge a book by it's cover. there was this man, a short, stocky guy with bushy hair and very bookish looking and older. he was a nice guy and we talked often. i found out in a conservation with him that he was in the gliders during wwii and glided into normandy on d-day. he killed many men in many battles. i thought he was an old man who couldnt fight when he was younger. i took him for a bookish, old jewish fellow. he became a hero to me.
