Video Stills of the Pre-9/11 New York
[previous] :: [next]The following images are stills captured from a video my wife and I shot on August 11, 1999.
Little did I know that these buildings had exactly 25 months to live. This article has been viewed 3296 times in the last 2 years jack: 5th Mar 2006 - 04:32 GMTpeople used to talk about events that happened 25 years ago and call it the good old days, now its pre 9-11. looking at your pics make me realize that at that time we did not know we were at war. they were plotting the attack and we were just going about our business. those souls in the towers had 25 months to live. makes you think what troubles we could be headed for. makes you think, are you ok with family, friends and people you meet every day. we should live every day like we had only 25 months to live. are you ok with God? these pics are of a time when we were thinking about jobs, money, boys and girls, and what you were going to do next weekend. now we think, are we safe? why are we at war? can we go back to happier times? what were people thinking 12-7-41? they saw their lives turned upside down. things change. we change and things will get better. it will take time and unfortunately this chaos is in our time. EvilGentleman: 5th Mar 2006 - 08:53 GMTPearl Harbor was attacked on my grandfather's 28th birthday, the World Trade Center was attacked on my stepson's 29th birthday, my first wife died on my 30th birthday. I dread the thought of someone in my family turning 31. speakeasy: 8th Mar 2006 - 16:38 GMTI am a south african, far away from your beautiful land. looking at your photographs invoked a dreadful feeling of sadness within my soul. i write in all lower case bacause of the magnitude of your losses. it seems somewhat respectful it seems only fair to write this way, because nothing can compare to what it is that you have all experienced. my heart bleeds. i have experience warfare! i was born and raised in rhodesia. i left a land of promise and good intention. dear god..... where to now??? Chris, UK: 21st Mar 2006 - 18:01 GMTWhat kind of evil can lead people to do such things it just doesnt make sence. Anyway u can be sure that Britian stands shoulder to shoulder with u guys to defeat this evil. Peter: 21st Mar 2006 - 18:25 GMTthe sad thing is that most americans arent interested in "defeating this evil" so much as we are in rebuilding, getting the hell out of this clusterfuck of a war in iraq, hoping our belabored country can survive the remaining years of bush's fascism, and not being hated (more than we already are) by the rest of the world... its an unenviable position to be in, thats for sure. but thanks for your sentiment... Chris Erb: 16th Apr 2006 - 15:56 GMT"What kind of evil can lead people to do such things it just doesnt make sence." The same evil that persuaded Bush and co. to attack Iraq and cause thousands upon thousands of Iraqi citizens to die and live in constant fear maybe? EvilGentleman: 24th Apr 2006 - 15:59 GMTChris, I disagree. The 9-11 attacks were a cowardly attack by a group of racist religious fanatics, intent on the eradication of all things American. The invasion of Iraq was done by one army under the command of a Head of State to invade another sovereign nation and depose its Head of State. The US Military has no intention of completely wiping Iraq off the map, and religious fanatacism has little to do with America's agenda in Iraq. I do not support the continued presence of US troops in Iraq, but I think removing Saddam was a plus, not a minus. One could say that Bush has killed thousands of Iraqis, but it is also true that the number of Iraqis killed by US troops, both during the active war and occupation phases, is considerably less than the number killed by the car-bombs of the fanatics. And nowhere near the number killed by Saddam and his Republican Guard. Let me ask you where would you rather live, in Bush's America or Saddam's Iraq? As much as I do not care for Bush, he is way better than Saddam. And at least there are a few less George W statues around. wake up: 22nd Aug 2006 - 11:07 GMTthe attacks were planned with the c.i.a (america) its a shame americans (most of them) are blindly dumb about there own goverment and its intent....you must be the most nation on naive earth buildings dont fall down when planes hit them...this is a FACT wake up america.....the decline of your country has started !!!!!!!! EvilGentleman: 22nd Aug 2006 - 14:08 GMTwake up - Let's fly a lear jet into your house, and see what happens :-P susannah: 10th Sep 2006 - 20:20 GMTWake up - I watched the towers go down from Fifth Avenue - it was not a bomb. Trust me. EvilGentleman: 10th May 2007 - 01:38 GMTNo point posting a map link for this one. If you don't know where New York City is, you probably can't read maps anyways.
