they look like they're huddled around talking to each other... maybe they're talking about the snooty buildings behind them.

those are actually from cental park, looking south towards the southwest entrance of the park at columbus circle. i can tell because i see the dual glass-towers of the time warner center building there, rather clearly through the trees. also: the diamond-gridded facade of the random hosue building to its left.
ergo, its about 3 miles north of the trade center site ;)
