there's someone around here who does stencilling. monochrome, not multicolor. faces.

i'd like to learn to do that. maybe there are internet instructions for stencil-making someplace....

it's similar to screen printing. any book on printmaking would be a start. doing actual screenprinting would set you up a bit. there is an art to getting detail good but not messing it up, because you need the inked bits to link together enough for the stencil to maintain integrity. heavy duty tracing paper from an art shoppe is good, or, at any rate, i have used it in paper based work, which i have also used repositionable spray mount to get the detail extra finessed. this might not be practicable on a wall, and you might need something sturdier such as a waxed stencil card if you want to do loads. (but you would still want the tracing paper to get the image on). if you want to do something much smaller you could photocopy onto OHP film. for cutting i would in all cases use a scalpel.
