awesome! classic ... i used to go to the same one every day when i worked on the . i always chatted with the lonely old woman who worked the cart. after about a year, she started having my coffee already waiting for me when i got off the bus, and soonafter stopped charging me altogether. she was very kind. ahh, a good memory.

she had the best coffee, too.

having worked on a burger bar, not dissimilar to this for about a year, i can tell you that it can get very lonely. Your regulars are often the only thing keep you going. And i must admit to giving unoffical discounts to people who raised my spirits. People like The Captain. Most people are quite rude towards you, though i'm not sure to what extent this is a conscious effort. It's nice when customers take the time to pass the time of day with you. Makes you feel less like a .

This guy is great, very personable. Whenever I catch his eye, I give him a wave. I don't often pick up coffee on the way to work as I tend to drop boiling liquids in my lap, especially if I have an audience. Also, I drink the dreaded decaf, and he only has Sanka (which tastes like gravy granules).

Is Blue Peter involved here? Looks like egg boxes and the fabulous sticky backed plastic, with no sharp scissors in evidence.

Peter: 12th Jan 2006 - 19:24 GMT

...and its against the law to drink coffee on the train now! hahaha.

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 12th Jan 2006 - 23:34 GMT

Kato, (Mum, actually) it's funny 'cos these carts do look like they were taped together each morning. It's very thin, pressed aluminium and plastic. I always wonder why the guy inside doesn’t come crashing out the bottom. Some of the more sophisticated carts have cooking facilities where you can get egg and bacon for your roll. There are all kinds of street vendors in New York for food; kebabs and meat on sticks (fondly referred to as ‘street meat‘), pretzels, sugared nuts, hot dogs and fruit stands.

I remember always getting a doughnut when I was going to school. This picture brings back so many memories.

Japan Trams

I saw the "Tokyo Train" post and had to add this shot down a tram in the countryside. And this train shot. But my favourite thing about Japan was the signage
