very nice. is it am or pm? i like to think pm after a long day at the office, kick off my shoes and walk in the sand. or better afternoon, after a rain storm, see her walk along the beach as she comes across a man, her age, they look at each other in one of those quick passing glimpses and continue on their ways but wait, she sees him stumble and she runs to his aid. he stepped on a sharp object hidden in the sand and she steadies him and examines his foot. he thanks her. "you know i appreciate your taking the time to help me", "oh, thats ok, you reminded me of my little puppy when it had a thorn in its paw", 'ah so im like your puppy, is your puppy cute?" "yes, you know i should put a bandaide on this" "i hope im not putting you out for this, i'll be ok" "no, i want to do it, come with me to the restaurant over there, i have a bandaide and we can clean off your foor and have a cup of coffee"

jack: ever seen coney island in the snow? ive always wanted to, but never manage to get out there in a snowstorm... stillwell avenue seems like a million miles away in bad weather. but i bet it looks pretty, all covered in fresh snow with the waves lapping, oblivious to the snow and ice, reminding us that they dont care what season it is...

peter, you awaken many memories when you mention coney and stillwell. i grew up in 50's gravesend. my family moved from bay 13th and bath to gravesend. i walked many times from boody jr. high to stillwell to go to the spumoni gardens. the projects were not yet built and it was the city dumps that separated the spumoni gardens from lafatette high school. when there was a fresh snow everything looked pure. the sycamore trees covered in snow, the empty streets where we could bellywop with garbage can covers or a sled (if your family had money). in the summer there were italian, polish, irish, german festivals one after another. block parties once a month. in the summer when school was out the kids would have a backyard party. a phonograph and 45's, potato chips and sodas were all we needed. the music would start and the guys would stand there, waiting to catch the eye of the girl they wanted to dance with. sometimes a couple would sneak off to the side of the yard for a kiss. nothing serious, because teen pregnancies were rather rare in middle income neighborhoods. besides if you tried to get too familiar with a girl, you had to deal with older brothers and her family. fights were common on every street. there were gangs and turfs and colors and fights. i was pretty friendly with a few gangs but not a member with any, so i got along pretty well. i was in to sports. baseball, football, hockey and basketball. i could hold my own but i was not a star. i had a friend who was in the polar bear club and every january would watch him jump into the ocean. that was 1964. me, im a coward to the water. a really interesting event to see is the mermaid parade at the end of summer on mermaid avenue in coney. all the crazy's out then. i will be taking photos soon with my new digital and will send some in to you guys to see.

i thought elaine and catherine would have liked the story. i would like to write a story and have all of you add story lines so we can write a short story with different dialouge.

I climbed to the top of the building my flat was in and snapped these. kinda boring i guess, but i find them really interesting, part of the city no one really sees.
