Commute at Dusk

- Laura - Saturday, December 31st, 2005 : goo

It occurred to me this morning that I could bring my camera to work. Believe it or not, this is a thought that really hadn't come to me before, for whatever reason. These are taken on my walk to the train station and then back home.

A little green shed that I admire everyday. I was just walking and clicking- I see that I'll have to shoot this shed again more carefully. It has a bright yellow convertible parked next to it. I'll have to include it in the next shot.

image 7240

A building on Overing Street that caught my attention on the walk home- it was absolutely striking. The light nearly burned my eyes as I struggled to capture it.

Across the street looking at the Westchester Square elevated 6 train...which I had just missed.

image 7242

While waiting for another 6 train, I shot this, a feeble attempt to recapture the magic of a shot I took with my cameraphone. That shot would have been amazing with a proper camera- it was dusk, the sky was purple and pink behind the steeple, and the tracks were covered in snow. This doesn't have the same feel, but I'll get it again someday.

Back on the UES, a bent one-way sign that caught the eye.

Looking in a shop window on 88th st, I am reminded to have inner peace. After a long day, after a long year, its a good reminder.

i love your photos. classic citynoise show and tell

GGP: 11th Jan 2006 - 02:26 GMT

these are really good shots. the patina on the first one--the gate, I mean, plus the shed--is kind of amazing; "painterly." and the burning building on overing...excellent!

Laura : thanks, GGP :)

Chris Erb: 16th Jun 2006 - 20:37 GMT

I love picture number 2 of the building. The bent sign is a great picture too!
