I'm not sure how i feel about people tagging trees/bamboo etc. something which has it's own aesthetic value (especially something which is a living thing) should be left to stand on it's own without intervention. I feel much the same way about historic buildings.

ea: 21st Apr 2006 - 13:43 GMT

how bout tatoos? course trees dont mark themselves...

Peter: 21st Apr 2006 - 14:03 GMT

jamie: im with you on that. coincidentally, i just now posted Sup, Tree? before finding this thread... interesting.

ea: tattoos? what youre saying would be tantamount to someone coming up and tattooing their name on your body without your permission, heh. i mean, obviously trees and bamboo arent sentient in that way, and cant speak up or complain, but i think you get my point ;)

groovehouse: 21st Apr 2006 - 14:51 GMT

Jamie... I agree about historic buildings. My office-mate went on a trip to Italy last year and couldn't get over how much graffiti was scribbled on the historic buildings he visited.

elaine: 21st Apr 2006 - 16:32 GMT

i have told a kid off for kicking a tree before now. i said 'how would you like it if someone did that to you?'
he looked at me like i was mental, but did stop.

ea: 21st Apr 2006 - 22:53 GMT

ha! nooo...

"something which has it's own aesthetic value (especially something which is a living thing) should be left to stand on it's own without intervention"

so I was asking, does this mean skin too?
I certainly think skin has enough inherrant beauty all empty, but then again, the past few days I've taken to tagging myself.

(it was just a little disclaimer above that tatoos and tree tagging are incomparable)
