This article has been viewed 8405 times in the last 3 years elaine: 6th Sep 2005 - 21:22 GMTthat 'fuck al qaida' is where the pulp fiction with bananas banksy used to be near old st roundabout Jamie: 7th Sep 2005 - 08:13 GMTelaine: do you mean this one? i was sad to see that it was gone when i visited recently.
SpankyHam: 7th Sep 2005 - 10:25 GMTThats so sad the banksy pulp fiction one is replaced by complete crap.
elaine: 7th Sep 2005 - 12:14 GMTyeah, jamie. i was sad to see it was gone, it felt like a hex. it was a good local landmark and tied together the other ones in the neighbourhood like a well hung exhibition (some local grafs from the time here). it does feel like a shame, spanky, but it is weird to feel precious about grafitti... although like honour among thieves, it seems like 'vandalism' when good artworks are destroyed with crap. i also hated it when this happened to my beloved sixy trolls (i didn't paint them btw but felt personally injured when they were so artlessly bludgeoned) Jamie: 7th Sep 2005 - 12:28 GMTi agree. personally i'm a huge non-fan of tagging/bombing unless it's somehow unique and or equisitely executed. The sixy trolls were a modern masterpiece and their loss is a true crime. Peter: 7th Sep 2005 - 14:00 GMTi love the before and after nature of graf. especially in places i pass on a daily/regular basis. i love watching the evolution. even when something bad goes over something good, sadly enough. i love seeing people coming along and "avenging" the going over with something even better :) things would get stagnant otherwise. this for example or this one, too. sythero: 3rd Oct 2005 - 13:08 GMTyeah, i gotta say that i think its a pretty sad thing when a real piece of art like the banksy piece gets slapped over by some novice
anon (bmly-cache-10.server.ntli.net): 20th Feb 2006 - 12:11 GMTI was sort of gutted the Banksy' Pulp Fiction one was gone - still every thing has its day and ' Fuck Alqaida' was done just after the tube bombings , so was at least done with real feeling .... I was on my way to Kings Cross to cover the press conference and flower tributes for my newspaper when I saw it first . Email me if you want a copy. Thom: 28th Jul 2006 - 13:43 GMTI don't think this is a banksy piece just some ones own atempt at a recreation. Its in the same spot as the original so some one obviously missed it so much they had a hack at it themselves! Alastair Pullen: 26th Nov 2006 - 10:25 GMTWell if it's not by Banksy why is it featured in Wall and Piece ? Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
