hey mr norway. i think its cool that you're posting articles and trying to start discussions here. we don't often talk about what kind of website citynoise is because it means different things to different people. for me, it's a place where people share their own environments. their cities, their apartments, their neighbourhoods and favourite places, urban legends and myths, all mixed up with their own lives. in the mainstream media we hear about "BIG" things like politics and war and pop stars. but here we can write our own stories on a personal scale. i've learned more about the world from here than in geography class. the nature of fame ... the peace process.

how about posting something from your own experience? (aside from looking for dates). i'd like to learn more about norway through the eyes of a norwegian.

ps. what is she eating?

Mr Norway..: 31st Aug 2005 - 12:10 GMT

Well jeeff... maybe i have missunderstood the whole thing.. idea of what this cite is all about.. i belived that you could post anything you'd like here.. even start an discussion about somthing you "burned for".. It all started for me when i read about that pervert person who marstubated on a lockal train, and a Lady posted the whole story and picture on this cite. Did you know that because of this pervert guy... the whole story went ALL over the world.... in news papers.. internett... TV news... even all the way up here in Norway,,, it went big here.... All of this turned into a huge discussion on internett here in Norway.. the discussion was about how much space in the news should this pervert guy take.. why does american news medie make such a big deal about g guy martrubating on train... Get the picture jeeff... This stort went BIG...... the guy is an celiberty now... atleast i NOrway... :)

By the way, the girl is eating a sandwitch with brown cheese... this sandwitch is some of what we norwegian are well known for...

elaine: 31st Aug 2005 - 12:32 GMT

while it is vaguely interesting that the 'pervert' got lots of attention, it is not a typical posting on this site. and as for celebrities, there are plenty of sited dedicated to them. if you have a look through the archives there are some 'off topic' postings, but most are fairly strictly about 'everyday' urban culture, or rather our experiences of it from our unique perspectives. there are some common themes, and there are some pushings of boundaries. much is tolerated, much is celebrated. i don't know in advance what is going to take off but popularity is not necessarily eqivalent to appreciation

elaine: 31st Aug 2005 - 12:33 GMT

ps the brown cheese is way more interesting than the girl

Editor: 31st Aug 2005 - 13:37 GMT

i deleted the britney spears post, but i left this one due to the redeeming virtue of the brown cheese...

no worries, mr. norway, but we'd rather see photos of your country, your neighborhood, your foods, your customs or politics than anything else. people form all over the world post here, but i think you are the only norwegian.

so... now that youve made it clear to us how you feel about america, dating and britney spears, lets move on to stuff about norway- show us some photos youve taken... remember, things you think are ordinary and boring might be fascinating to us, who have never seen them before!

jeeff: 31st Aug 2005 - 14:48 GMT

i wonder where the pervert-subway thing was first posted. if it was here, that's pretty cool (but i kind of doubt it). it certainly does seem to be a BIG story now, but the original article on here is quite personal. it's hard to predict what will spread & become popular on the internet.

i've never seen brown cheese before. does it taste good?

elaine: 31st Aug 2005 - 15:03 GMT

i have. it was a while ago but i seem to remember it being strong and sweetish. perhaps the brownness is a caramalising thing?

Peter: 31st Aug 2005 - 15:05 GMT

the pervert-subway story was posted to a nyc group on lj by the original photographer. someone suggested she repost it here to spread the word and she did... among other places, i'd imagine.

hool: 31st Aug 2005 - 15:15 GMT

mr norway seems to be defending the subway stroker, and expressing sympathy. perhaps he can relate? i think it's a big story not because of the stroker's action, but because of the woman's response to the situation. i'm glad it's a big story, because other strokers will see it, and think twice about victimizing a stranger in that way , lest they be exposed internationally.

to my dear, lovely, elaine, the cheese could be a gjetost cheese made by ski queen. you can probably get some in a cheese specialty store or by contacting a norwegian food company. by the way i always thought that this site was more of an artistic site utilizing the camera as a way of sharing our cities and towns, our living spaces, our neighbors, the oddities of life, all with an artists view. this should not be a political site because there are plenty of those. this should not be an angry site, LORD knows that we have too much anger in our lives already. simply i enjoy the banter between artists, the photos, the genius of these contributors, because they use their genius when they snap the button. their perspective, their line of site. in norway and most swedish countries, germany and europe altogether has been dealing with the sex issues when america was still in the victorian age. to them a flasher is comical. not newsworthy. they feel that to spend so much time on a sick individual is a waste of time. they value human time in the importance of more important issues. a flasher is a sick person. trying to prove he is a man. i think there is no man out there who would scream at a female flasher, but we all yell about the male flasher. of course the female body is much more beautiful than the male and we like looking at you beauties but the male, no way. we can look at ourselves. flashers pay a heavy price for their sickness and it is a sickness.
