that is pure magic, peter. how did you do that????

Peter: 11th Aug 2005 - 15:16 GMT

im afraid thats a secret i cant divulge, elaine...

jack: 11th Aug 2005 - 15:31 GMT

that man is seymore schwartz. he died in 1950 and is often seen walking around the city. now it is reported that he has been seen in numerous countries around the globe. i personally, have never seen him. he has been seen at nathan's in coney island ordering french fries,(which by the way are delicious) and a root beer. you were lucky to have captured him on film.

chadweck: 11th Aug 2005 - 16:35 GMT

uh, the cars in the street are moved, so it stands to reason that someone walking would be out of the frame.

am i missing something here?

and that comment by jack is rediculous.

Peter: 11th Aug 2005 - 16:42 GMT

isn't it interesting how pedantic logic can ruin a lighthearted moment?

Deshant: 11th Aug 2005 - 16:56 GMT

I once saw Seymore playing chess in Washington Square Park with a dread smoking a blunt. When the cop busted him he said "It's not mine, I n I just holding it for Mista Schwartz." Suddenly he was sitting by himself...

elaine: aaaarrrggghghhh!!!!!

wow, Peter, this takes sleight of hand to a whole new level!
funny that seymore schwartz should be mentioned here; I've met him, while hiking in the Catskills. He hangs out in a little town called Treadwell, on Charcoal Road where the old charcoal factory used to be. Once, the school bus broke down (mysteriously) on Charcoal Road and while the driver and kids waited for the tow-truck, seymore dispensed tiny pink candies to all the kids on the bus. the kids said the candy tasted like cameras--they all described it this way, so the story has become kind of a local legend.

I'd like to respond to Jack's comment, because I believe he's mistaken. The disappearing gentleman in the first photograph goes by the name of Robert Barringer. He is a traveling wonder, performing the same basic but dazzling technique which he says is "part psychology, part faith, part the right shoes" in cities around America and Canada. I saw him in DeCatur, IL two years ago and he was alive and well.

yeah, sorry, i wasn't that impressed either- though i do dig random people walking pics.
as well as the silly discussion his alleged disappearing act spurred

Bill Bob: 14th Aug 2005 - 21:39 GMT

are you a monkey? Because i knew this monkey although he could operate a camera!
