It was too damn hot to work, so I took a walk instead. I'm not a car person, but this Polaris was cool.

So were these leaves, which exuded oxygen, the memory of spring-green, and the hope of cooler days.

A local artist is doing beautiful silhouettes of the streetlamps on the sidewalk, as if streetlamp shadows were made of colored chalk. Unfortunately, my camera won't capture both the streetlamp AND the art piece, but I hope this gives a sense of the work.

re: the street-lamp outlines... have you seen this post? could very well be the same person. i hope so, as it would be a shame to see their "project" fizzle out after only two weeks or so...

also: great post! this is one i'd consider a perfect citynoise post :)

thanks, Peter, and yep, it IS the same person/signature. they're marvelous; first started appearing along 5th ave in springtime (which I see is when you posted your pics); I hope to be lucky enough to catch the artist in the act one day and convey my admiration for this stylish and evocative work in person.
