My eyes must be playing tricks. The logo in the badge motif looks like someone sitting in the full lotus position with arms outstretched and a white towel draped over the shoulder.

i prefer the idea that a very intrepid fuzztype has sneaked right up under their nose and done that even to the possibility of om guru om policing... is that wrong of me?

I'm late to this post and I'm not sure it's necessary, but that really is someone in the lotus position. In front of the city's government buildings there is a giant sculpture called "Spirit of Detroit". Check the images here and you'll see: tinyurl.com/gadv5
