This is the western tip of Coney Island, and you can clearly see the parachute drop under the cloud cover... immediately to its left is this building.

gary: 9th Mar 2007 - 20:44 GMTjack, yes. i rode a steeplechase horse. i was very small. i was born in '52 in brooklyn and grew up a few miles from coney island and steeplechase park. on sundays my dad took us to coney island. steeplechase park was more magical to a little kid than disney could ever compare to. i couldn't immediately ride the steeplechase horse. or the cyclone roller coaster for that matter. you had to get somewhat big enough. but when i was... i mounted that wooden horse with my dad seated behind me and we took off. it was fantastic. no belts. no safety but for my grip and my dad's on me. same went for the cyclone. and the amazing parachute jump, now defunct but not the thrill of memory.
