The second one reminds me of the children's story "tar beach" about a family in the city that picnics on the roof. When I was little we used to watch the fireworks from our roof on July 4th - you could see the Statue of Liberty very clearly and it was pretty dramatic to see it all lit up, we saw the 1976 centennial from up there, I wish I had pictures of that.

Leftover from an age before motor vehicles. A time when streets didn't need to be of any specific width. Peculiar alleyways. I think i have sen this particular alleayway in a painting named Tinker's Alley, although the street sign describes...
