There have been six explosions in trains and stations and one onboard a bus in London today. Scores of people are reported injured, and the BBC is now reporting two confirmed fatalities. Stations affected include Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, , and Russell Square. The explosions are believed to have been caused by bombs.

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4659093.stm

The first explosion occured at 08:49 BST on the Metropolitan line at Liverpool Street Station. The cause is not yet known.

Scotland Yard has confirmed one explosion onboard a bus near Tavistock Square. It is believed that it was a London tour bus.

Experts believe the attack has been co-ordinated by al-Qaeda. Dr. Shane Brighton, an intelligence expert at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence, claims that, "If we what are looking at is a simultaneous bombing — and it does look like that — it would very certainly fit the classic al Qaeda methodology."

Either, this is a well planned terrorist attack planned to coincide with the G8 summit, or the french are really bad losers.

people are getting sentimental about the days of the ira - they used to phone in a warning so they only damaged capital and morale - this is a different register

Jamie: 7th Jul 2005 - 14:33 GMT

honour amongst bombers. you have a point though. equal disruption could equally be caused without the deaths of countless civilians. makes you wonder at the motives of such people. This totally isn't the way to go about affecting change in society for however noble your cause.
