Yesterday, riding home on the 2/3 to Brooklyn, someone got on strumming an old black Fender Telecaster I took photos. This article has been viewed 2961 times in the last 3 years eloc: 30th Jun 2005 - 14:35 GMTthe woman sitting in the middle, in white, looks really annoyed or frustrated or something. what was the guy playing? this is great.... i feel like such a voyeuristic spy. elaine: 30th Jun 2005 - 14:40 GMThahahaha.. yes you did! i like how he finally achieves a heavenly state.. kc: 30th Jun 2005 - 14:47 GMTperhaps she moved because she saw you documenting...note that she is carrying a beverage! now an illegal act on the subway, I believe... Peter: 30th Jun 2005 - 14:48 GMTelaine: yes, that last pic was his enlightenment... (albeit that everyone had left, cause they didnt wanna hear him). eloc: yeah she was pretty flustered. she kept staring over at him, hoping to catch his eye i guess, and let him know how annoyed she was... new yorker's are the best at tactfully showing their displeasure with people in public. i dont know what he was playing... his electric guitar wasnt very loud, as it wasnt plugged into anything; he was just strumming and singing, apparently ad-lib... it made me feel like a voyeur too. thats why i took the shots, heh. Peter: 30th Jun 2005 - 14:50 GMTkc: i have such stealthy techniques for using the cameraphone... odds are no one noticed (at least i hope, though it does look like the woman on the left in the second photo is totally on to me). ahh that stupid drink-ban. thats gonna go the way of the photo-ban, i bet. the mta needs to learn when to leave well enough alone...
kc: 30th Jun 2005 - 15:13 GMTshe *is* totally on to you. The whole thing is totally great. The conspiring/amused pair, his final neighbors, are pretty good too. Peter: 30th Jun 2005 - 15:25 GMTkc: yeah, i thought so too... thats why i snapped so many photos. usually i dont get this interested in something, especially on the train (graf, maybe... heh). it was a hoot watching everyone react to this guy. i wish i had video- something is lost in the still photos. elaine: voyeurs and exhibitionists of the world unite! Metal2: 2nd Jul 2005 - 03:05 GMTwow that guys guitarism helped that woman with the purse change ethnicity and lose quite a few pounds in no time! Eric: 2nd Jul 2005 - 15:08 GMTReminds me of this performance art piece: http://youngsunhan.com/bubble.htm JayEastsider: 15th Sep 2005 - 18:29 GMTI love the metro it is such a rich and awarding expierence to ride the subway in nyc. Hey Peter you ever buy any batteries from those people who sell stuff on the train. The Toronto subway is so boring you can't even go through the doors between trains without somebody calling the cops on you Comment on this articleBrowsing articles by Peter - [previous] :: [next] |
