i love the outdoor stairs. they're a really familiar feature of asian architecture.

Peter: 27th Jun 2005 - 16:18 GMT

i waqs just sitting here scrolling up and down quickly over the photo, watching the staircases make a repeated pattern. cool.

BZZZP: 27th Jun 2005 - 16:35 GMT

hot. is thee building face curved or is that just a weird lend effect?

selig: 27th Jun 2005 - 16:42 GMT

hmmm... thee building is straight i suspect. cheers.

BZZZP: 27th Jun 2005 - 18:12 GMT

that's what i get for starting off the week drunk.

Peter: 27th Jun 2005 - 18:24 GMT

i see some curve on the left side, too. i figured that was just minor abberation due to the lens, especially as teh staris (towards the center of hte lens) seem straight. its a great photo!

joey: stairs can sometimes resemble screw threads

elaine: 28th Jun 2005 - 08:15 GMT

both part of the evil plan of the right handed universe to humiliate and kill left handed people. grr

Peter: are you a lefty, elaine?

elaine: 28th Jun 2005 - 17:14 GMT

i am, and you know the sinister statistically die younger because they are more 'accident prone' - which is a lie, it's just that the world is designed to trip us up

Peter: 28th Jun 2005 - 17:19 GMT

alot of right-brained, creative folks are leftys... dont sweat it :)

elaine: 29th Jun 2005 - 09:03 GMT

i know, p, don't worry, just letting off steam. and i have long since given up trying to be a 'woman in manual trades' type - i rely on feminine wiles and indifference to get things done, or not, now. the main irritation for me just now is the ticket machines at the tube are right handed, and i find it surprisingly hard to adapt to holding my ticket in the wrong hand

Jamie: 29th Jun 2005 - 12:50 GMT

i am not a lefty though i do hold my knife and fork the wrong way round. does that count?

elaine: no it just means you are an american

When straight lines bow in from the frame edge it is known as pin cushioning. This is typically found at the long end of zoom lenses.

Tokyo Tower

i'd stare at the tokyo tower whenever it was in view. often it was obscured by the forest of skyscrapers, but you can see it looking south from the lawn of the imperial palace, near my work. ...
