(a reference to a tv series showcasing 80s notions of simulacra as progressive social institution)
when reality is such that its very existence nags the consciences of elites enough for the central planning zeitgeist to conclude that simulacra are preferable --
like an indigent's opium: "you can't take it away from him without giving him anything else in return"

this simulacrum has a particularly munchkin kind of flavour. it is wild how the architecture has a cartoon fantasy village where everyone has jobs like baker and oversize candy seller, while the ceiling looks like the whole fantasy is breaking down rapidly and outside is a bladerunner style dystopia - or maybe a holodeck
