Reservoir Bogs

It's funny how the future, when it crumbles, sometimes looks like the past...this is a view across what was once the Ridgewood Reservoir on the border of Brooklyn and Queens. That fuzzy shadow is the Empire State Building--that reminded me how tall it is. The reservoir has just become part of the NYC parks system, and who knows what they'll do with it? The guide for our walking tour, organized by the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment, reminded us that the main branch of the NY Public Library was built on the site of a former reservoir at 42nd Street....

nice, and yes you do. i like the framing you got there - classic landscape painting - foreground, middle ground, distance, you got other painters too, claude lorrain virtually invented landscape painting, to the point where people simply did not look at landscapes before him, and when he was trendy people bought 'claude glasses' which were modified panels of coloured glass to look through the better to appreciate the landscape

every time i ride the traqin through the jamaica bay wildlife refuge, i get the same vibes... so much green/wild around, so close to urban terrain you can still smell it...
